Schedule of Activities

We offer planned activities every weekend, in season! We have some great bluegrass, rock-n-roll, and country bands. DJs playing various music, magicians, jugglers, and comedians. Summer weekends always include hayrides, movies, Bingo, ceramics, and other family fun activities. Storytelling by the campfire, stuff for mom, stuff for dad, and of course lots of stuff for the kids.

CLEAN-UP WEEKEND • Camp with us this weekend and help clean up around the campground on Saturday and receive a coupon good for one free night of camping. We will provide hot dogs, chips, and drinks for lunch.

EASTER WEEKEND • The Easter Bunny returns to the Gettysburg Campground. We have lots of exciting Easter crafts and activities planned as well as our DJ on Saturday night right after our Adult Beverage hunt! This will be a great weekend for the kids (and adults)!

April 13 - 15

HEROES WEEKEND • All active duty (ID required) police, fire, emergency, or military personnel receive one free night of camping with one paid night (RV sites only other discounts for rental units). We will have our annual memorial service along with some special activities for the kids. Saturday night dance to our DJ in the Rec Hall. April 20 - 22

YARD SALE WEEKEND • One person’s junk is another person’s treasure. Bring your stuff to our advertised yard sale open to the public on Saturday and Sunday morning (rain or shine). (In the Area: Gettysburg Restaurant Week; An evening with the painting – Cyclorama)

April 27 - 29

EVERYTHING CHOCOLATE WEEKEND • If you love chocolate then this is your weekend! We have some great things planned for our first Everything Chocolate weekend: Candy bar bingo, flashlight candy bar hunt, guess the chocolate in a jar, chocolate fountain, smores, and more. Finish the day with ghost stories by the campfire. (In the Area: 14th Annual Greyhounds in Gettysburg; 2nd Annual North-South Marathon)

RACING / CINCO DE MAYO WEEKEND • Our 17th Annual “Gettysburg Campground 500” Matchbox Car Race (trophies awarded). Bring your own car or buy a wreck (2 oz. max. weight - NO trucks). NASCAR site decorating contest (prizes awarded). We will also have some Cinco De Mayo activities sure to bring smiles to all. Saturday evening listen to ghost stories by the campfire. (In the Area: 58th Apple Blossom Festival (717-677-7444))

May 11 - 13

MOTHER’S DAY WEEKEND • We have some special things planned this year. Saturday we will start with a pancake breakfast free for moms ($ for others), then make that special craft for Mom ($), mother/child mini-golf tournament, Boyd’s Bear bingo, our wine appreciation class for moms only, and finishing up with music from our DJ. Sunday is Mom’s day to sleep in!

May 18 - 20

SPRING QUIET WEEKEND • One final quiet weekend before the official summer season starts. Saturday evening Matt Dodd will perform “Songs and Stories of the Civil War” around the campfire. (In the Area: Gettysburg Bluegrass Festival (just up the road); Gettysburg Outdoor Antique Festival)

MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND (Special Event 3-Night Minimum) • We get going for the summer this weekend with bingo, hayrides, mini-golf, shuffleboard, horseshoe tournaments, swimming, movies, fishing, dancing, plus much more. Our DJ will be here Friday and the Powder Keg Band returns for our Sunday night dance. (In the Area: 145th Gettysburg Memorial Day Parade; An Evening with the painting – Cyclorama)

CIVIL WAR ENCAMPMENT WEEKEND • Civil War living history encampment here at the campground starts with a Civil War era dance on Friday. Saturday has numerous living history activities including musket and artillery demos. Evening candlelight tours of the encampment area. June 8 - 10

PIG ROAST AND HAWAIIAN LUAU • Hawaiian-themed crafts & activities for the kids; Pig Roast with the trimmings ($); Ray Owen on Saturday evening - pink flamingos, palm trees, and all. (In the Area: Gettysburg Festival; Lead Scene East – Rod & Customs Nationals; “What in the World is a Cyclorama?”)

FATHER’S DAY WEEKEND • We have some special things planned this year. GHOSTLY ENCOUNTERS / RUBBER DUCKY REGATTA • Saturday afternoon we will have our annual rubber ducky regatta. Pick a duck and cheer it on as we race down the mighty Marsh Creek. Saturday evening participate in a paranormal investigation right here on the campground ($). MARIE LEVIN’S REBA TRIBUTE WEEKEND • Marie Levin and Little Rock returns once again with their tribute show to “Reba”. This is a standing room only show you do not want to miss. (In the Area: 38th Annual Gettysburg Civil War Collectors Show)

JULY 4th HOLIDAY WEEKEND (Special Event) • The 149th reenactment of the Battle of Gettysburg will be this weekend. Here at the campground we will have our own living history encampment as well. Friday our DJ will be spinning tunes and on Saturday the living history camp will be open with a presentation in the evening. (In the Area: 149th Gettysburg Civil War Battle Anniversary & Reenactment)

GETTYSBURG BIKE WEEK AND SOCK HOP WEEKEND • Gettysburg Bike Week returns to town this weekend so if you enjoy motorcycles and riding this is the time to visit Gettysburg. There will be activities all around town. Saturday night enjoy the sounds of the Boro Boogie Band. (In the Area: Gettysburg Bike Week)

July 20 - 22

LINE DANCING WEEKEND • Saturday we will have some old fashioned fun like sack races, watermelon eating contest, and more. Saturday evening City Slickers and Country Kickers are back with line dancing for the whole family. Don’t know how? You will after this weekend! CHRISTMAS IN JULY WEEKEND • I doubt we will get snow but Santa is coming anyway for our Christmas celebration! All kinds of family fun is planned along with our "Festival of Lights" hayride, site decorating contest and our Holiday dance Saturday night with music by our DJ. Bring a new unwrapped toy to donate to Toys for Tots and receive a weekend pass for mini-golf or 2 hours free on one of our pedal carts. (In the Area: An Evening with the painting – Cyclorama)

ELVIS WEEKEND • This is our Elvis Tribute weekend. Elvis movies, Elvis trivia, Elvis music and our annual Tribute to Elvis show this year with Joe Forrester presenting his Elvis for All Occasions show. This was a big hit last year so book early. (In the Area: Gettysburg Ghost Conference – 2012)

CRAB FEAST WEEKEND • Our annual crab feast returns with steamed crabs, corn on the cob, and cole slaw. This will be an all-you-can eat event and requires advance payment and reservations/$). Saturday night our Country Band will be here for your enjoyment. (In the Area: 90th South Mountain Fair)

LABOR DAY WEEKEND (Special Event 3-Night Minimum) • Camp with us on the last big summer weekend! We kick the weekend off Friday evening with our DJ and finish up Sunday night with a dance with music by Don & Roxy. In between we have plenty of activities like bingo, hayrides, mini-golf, shuffleboard, horseshoe tournaments, swimming, movies, fishing, dancing, plus much more.

CAR SHOW & SOCK HOP WEEKEND • The Roadrunners Car Club of Carroll County, MD, will be returning to host our car show weekend. This is open to the public and trophies are awarded. This is a fund raiser for a scholarship fund for the children of fallen law enforcement officers. Saturday night we finish up with our annual Sock Hop dance with Don & Roxy. FOOTBALL AND CHILI COOK-OFF WEEKEND • Bring your best chili to our chili cook-off tailgate party and meet other football n’ chili loving campers. Prizes awarded for the chili winners. Don’t forget to decorate your site with your team colors. The North-East Truck Camping Jamboree will be here as well! PIPPINFEST • The annual Pippinfest festival is Saturday and Sunday just down the road in Fairfield. Saturday is a huge yard sale and Sunday the artists and craftsmen come out. At the campground, Saturday evening enjoy some great bluegrass with the CB Pickers. (In the Area: Fairfield Pippinfest (717-642-5640))

APPLE HARVEST I & COLUMBUS DAY WEEKEND (Special Event) • The 48th annual National Apple Harvest Festival opens this weekend. Our DJ will be here Saturday night spinning some great tunes. Sunday night enjoy Ghost Stories by the campfire. (In the Area: 48th Annual National Apple Harvest Festival)

APPLE HARVEST II (Special Event) • This is the second weekend of the 48th National Apple Harvest Festival as well as the Catoctin Fall Colorfest in Thurmont, MD. REMEMBRANCE DAY WEEKEND • There are various events around town commemorating the anniversary of President Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address. There is also a civil war parade followed by the annual illumination event at the Soldiers National Cemetery. (In the Area: 149th Anniversary of Lincoln’s Address; Remembrance Day Parade & Ceremonies; 10th Annual Remembrance Day Illumination at Soldiers National Cemetery)
