Activities Schedule
We offer planned activities every weekend, in season! We have some great bluegrass, rock-n-roll, and country bands. DJs playing various music, magicians, jugglers, and comedians. Summer weekends always include hayrides, movies, Bingo, ceramics, and other family fun activities. Storytelling by the campfire, stuff for mom, stuff for dad, and of course lots of stuff for the kids.

April
April 3 - 5 CLEAN-UP & NIGHT AT THE RACES WEEKEND - Help around the campground for 4 hours on Saturday and receive a coupon good for one free night of camping during 2009 (one per site). Bring rakes, shovels, and gloves if you want to help! Saturday evening we will have a hot dog roast for all who helped us clean up. Saturday night our Night at the Races event returns.
April 10 - 12 EASTER WEEKEND - We are planning an Eggtastic weekend packed with all sorts of Easter crafts and activities. Who knows, the Easter Bunny may even be stopping by for a visit. Saturday night Tom Jolin will be here with a musical show that the kids and Mom and Dad will love.
April 17 - 19 HEROES WEEKEND - One free night of camping this weekend to anyone who can show proof of their active affiliation as a police, fire, emergency, or military personnel (2-night reservation required) On Saturday, we will have a memorial service in honor of all of America’s heroes. Saturday evening listen to ghostly stories around the campfire.

April 24 - 26 KIDS’ WEEKEND - This is an extra special weekend for kids at the Gettysburg Campground. We will have our annual Kids Backwards Luncheon ($). Kids Candy Bar Bingo, kids free mini-golf, and free popcorn for the movies. Ventriloquist Tom Crowl and his cast of goofy friends will be here Saturday evening.

May 1 - 3 BINGO MADNESS - Bingo, Bingo, Bingo! Continental Breakfast Bingo, Junk Food Bingo, Candy Bar Bingo, Door Prize Bingo, & Dessert Bar Bingo (bring a dessert to share.) Bingo for everyone. Madness!

May 8 - 10 MOTHER’S DAY WEEKEND - Moms time to relax. Saturday we will have various crafts for everyone followed in the afternoon by a special Boyd’s Bear Bingo game. Saturday afternoon the Adams County Winery will present a Wine Appreciation Class. Saturday night Tom Jolin will be here with a musical show for the whole family. Sunday enjoy a pancake breakfast free for moms ($ for others).
May 15 - 17 GETTYSBURG 500 RACE WEEKEND - Time for our 14th Annual Matchbox Car Race, the “Gettysburg Campground 500”. Bring your own car or buy a wreck (2 oz. max. weight - NO Trucks). Fun for everyone! Participate in our site decorating contest (prizes awarded). Trivia contests and more. Watch the race in Charlotte on the big screen. Saturday evening Matt Dodd performing Songs and Stories of the Railroad Days.

May 22 - 25 MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND (3-Night Minimum) - The 2009 summer camping season officially begins! Friday our DJ will be spinning tunes, Saturday listen to ghostly tales around the campfire and on Sunday The Powder Keg Band returns with their brand of great music.

May 29 - 31 RUBBER DUCKY REGATTA WEEKEND - Time to enjoy some peace and quiet relaxing by the campfire. Saturday morning we will have our annual Rubber Ducky Regatta down the mighty Marsh Creek. Ray Owen presents his "Hats Off To America" show on Saturday night.
June
June 5 - 7 CIVIL WAR ENCAMPMENT WEEKEND - Come experience the history of Gettysburg at our own Civil War Encampment. The Gettysburg Brigade will be encamped on site! Learn through the eyes of the soldiers and civilians what it was like to be here during the Civil War. Friday evenings we will have a Civil War dance with live music and Saturday there will be Encampment activities and events leading up to candlelight camp tours.

June 12 - 14 CHICKEN BBQ WEEKEND - Saturday afternoon we are going to have a chicken BBQ and fixin’s! ($/reservations required). The CB Pickers bluegrass band will be here Saturday night.
June 19 - 21 FATHER’S DAY & “CASHERS FLAT” BLUEGRASS BAND - Dads - this is your weekend to relax. Enjoy the sounds of Marsh Creek or the crackling campfire. We have plenty of fun-filled events planned for the whole family including our first Father’s Day mini-golf challenge. Saturday night, Cashers Flat bluegrass band is back putting on their hard driving bluegrass show. Sunday morning enjoy a pancake breakfast free for Dads ($ for others).

June 26 - 28 REBA McENTIRE TRIBUTE WEEKEND - Marie Levin will be here presenting her tribute show to “Reba”. You will be amazed at the sound-a-like and look-a-like qualities she possesses.

July 2 - 6 JULY 4th HOLIDAY CELEBRATION (3-Night Minimum) -  Celebrate our nation’s birthday right here at the Gettysburg Campground. In town will be the 146th anniversary reenactment of the Battle of Gettysburg. We will be having our own living history encampment where our re-enactor’s camp will be buzzing with activity. Listen to ghostly tales around the campfire Thursday night. On Friday our DJ will be spinning tunes and on Saturday night "The Willys".

July 10 - 12 GETTYSBURG BIKE WEEK & SOCK HOP - Bike Week begins Thursday the 9th. Saturday will be packed with fun-filled activities for the kids to do. Saturday night enjoy those good old days with Don & Roxy at our Sock Hop dance. Hoola Hoop and biggest bubble gum bubble blowing contests. Lots of fun for the whole family.

July 17 - 19 MID-SUMMER POOL PARTY - Enjoy a weekend camping and cooling off at our mid-summer pool party! Our DJ will be poolside spinning tunes. Saturday night come listen to ghostly tales around the campfire.

July 24 - 26 CHRISTMAS IN JULY WEEKEND - We will be collecting toys for the Toys For Tots program and anyone donating a toy will receive a weekend pass for free mini-golf. On Saturday Santa may pay us a visit. Decorate your site and win prizes as well as make our “Festival of Lights” hayride a delightful experience for everyone. Saturday night our DJ will be here with karaoke and seasonal music.

July 31 - August 2 ELVIS WEEKEND - MICHAEL HOOVER’S “MEMORIES OF ELVIS” - This is an annual event here and Michael Hoover returns Saturday for his “Memories Of Elvis” show. This is a standing room only show so you do not want to miss it. We will also have plenty of Elvis movies, Elvis music, and Elvis trivia.
August 7 - 9 CRAB FEAST WEEKEND - Our 3rd annual steamed crab n’ corn feast (must pre-order crabs by the dozen – market $). Saturday night swing by the Rec Hall and catch the City Slickers and Country Kickers. They will be teaching line dancing to all.

August 21 - 23 SUMMER’S “ALMOST” OVER POOL PARTY - Saturday evening we are having a pool party and contests with our DJ poolside spinning some tunes.

August 28 - 30 AUGUST RELAXATION WEEKEND - Enjoy a quiet camping weekend with the family before school gets going again. Enjoy Marsh Creek, go fishing, watch a movie, read a book, or just sit by the campfire and relax. Ray Owen will be here Saturday night with his “Great American Comedy And Music Show.”

September 4 - 7 LABOR DAY WEEKEND (3-Night Minimum) - Labor Day at the Gettysburg Campground means horseshoe tournaments, no hands Jell-O eating contest, games and more! Friday evening our DJ will be here playing some great music, listen to ghostly tales around the campfire Saturday night, and on Sunday night back by popular demand is the "Don & Roxy" Comedy Show.
September 11 - 13 CAR CRUISE & SOCK HOP WITH DON & ROXY - The Roadrunners Car Club of Carroll County will be here with their annual car show and Law Enforcement Memorial fundraiser. Go back in time and come see some of your favorite classic or custom cars of days past. On Saturday night Don & Roxy will be here putting on a real Sock Hop poodle skirts and all. Enjoy a Hoola Hoop, Bubble Gum Blowing, Dance, & Best Dressed Male & Female 50s Outfit Contests.

September 18 - 20 CAMPER APPRECIATION WEEKEND - Come on up for “smore” camping at the Gettysburg Campground where we will offer a site fee discount of 20% (2 night minimum). Saturday evening Tom Jolin will be here with his Music Americana show for the whole family.

September 25 - 27 PIPPINFEST N’ FOOTBALL WEEKEND - In the nearby town of Fairfield is the annual Pippinfest festival. This is also our 2nd annual Football Weekend! Decorate your site with your team colors in our site-decorating contest and win prizes. We will have football skill contests, trivia contests, a flag football game and a “pot-luck” tailgate party. Saturday evening sit by the campfire listening to ghostly tales.

APPLE HARVEST 1 - The annual National Apple Harvest Festival opens this weekend. Saturday Night Tom Jolin will be here performing some great Americana music.

APPLE HARVEST 2 & COLUMBUS DAY WEEKEND - This is the second weekend of the National Apple Harvest Festival. The Catoctin Fall Colorfest is also happening down in Thurmont, Maryland. Saturday evening the CB Pickers, a great local bluegrass band, will be here.

October 16 - 18 HALLOWEEN 1 (2-Night Minimum) - Enjoy a weekend full of haunting adventures. Decorate your own haunted site and win cash prizes. We are planning spooky crafts, pumpkin hunts, adult & children costume contests, trick-or-treating, haunted hayrides, & the MAZE OF DOOM. Saturday night at our Halloween Dance enjoy the sounds of the “Roll The Dice Band.”

November 21 - 23 REMEMBRANCE DAY WEEKEND - An annual event of remembrance with many activities in town including a parade and illuminations placed on civil war graves in the Soldiers National Cemetery. The reenactment of President Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address will be on Thursday, November 19. Re-enactors are always welcome to our campground!
